“Do You Wonder About Your Kid's Online Activities?”

A few weeks ago, my husband asked me to take a look at something on his computer. He showed me a page full of garbled text and said “This is what kids are using to talk to their friends online so that their parents won't be able to understand it. Did you know about this?” That garbled text is called Leetspeak. I knew this type of code language is not new, I wasn't aware kids are using it.

My immediate thoughts were,

"What would the future hold?"

"How can I keep up with all this?"

Are you worried about your children's activities online? Maybe you wonder what your kids do online when at their friends or even in school. Maybe your kids aren't old enough yet but you know that day is coming soon. Wherever you are in your parenting journey, as parents, we need to equip ourselves with the knowledge to protect our children from online dangers. Nobody is going to do this for us nor is anybody in a better position to do so.

This is why Ken and I created Safer Internet For Kids. To help other parents keep understand how to keep their children safe and still make the Internet an enjoyable, educational place as it should be. Find out:

  • How to control access and yet mindful of your child's privacy

  • Which software and websites that are kid friendly

  • Which software and websites that aren't kid friendly

  • What communication trends or methods that kids are using to thwart parents

  • Online trends that could threaten your child's or your family's privacy

  • How to teach your children good Internet habits

  • What smart computing habits your children should know

  • And much more.

Parents, you don't have to be technical. But to shield our children from Internet predators, it is crucial we learn and understand the general concepts and hopefully get to be at par if not just a little better than your children about Internet safety. We'll help you understand this in plain English.
